Your Move Central was developed in response to traffic congestion becoming a growing issue in and around Central Perth. The project built upon the methodologies of previous Your Move and TravelSmart programs, but unlike these programs, was focussed solely upon developing a methodology to influence travel behaviour for peak-period trips only.
CLIENT:
WA Department of Transport
LOCATION:
Perth metropolitan area, Western Australia
The objectives of Your Move Central were to contribute to a reduction in local peak hour congestion and improve transport efficiency by replacing private car trips with active transport modes (walking, cycling and public transport), and; increase public transport patronage levels, while encouraging regular public transport commuters to explore alternative active (walking and cycling) transport options.
Through the design phase, three service designs were tailored to three specific user groups: residents (households), schools (parents and children), and workplaces (employees). The household and school services focused primarily on the Town of Victoria Park (ToVP), while the workplace service focused on the Perth Central Business District (CBD). BDW worked in collaboration with DoT to deliver an innovative and evidence-based behaviour change service. This broadly included providing participants with tailored local resources and information, personalised prompts, and frequent and personalised feedback and support through a variety of mediums.
